Stainless steel is antagonistic, via galvanic corrosion response, to sheet steel coated with hot dip
aluminum-zinc alloy anti-corrosion coating – the base metal component of DECRA roof panels and accessory components. Corrosive reaction is further exacerbated by moist, humid climate zones and near coastal marine environments. DECRA lab research documents this reaction having an adverse effect on its roof system anti-corrosion properties over time as it accelerates the eventual dissipation of the anti-corrosion alloy coating.
DECRA continues to recommend the use of our stock DECRA ferrous steel fastener with triple-coat anti-corrosion protection, available in silver finish and color painted head fastener finishes that are compatible with our DECRA stone coat color blends.
